At loose ends...

Hazel Knits 'Sailor's Delight'
You know you're not quite right in the head when you are experiencing a bit of the November doldrums and call your husband at work and have the following conversation:

Me: Can I buy an I-Phone, just to make myself feel better?
Him: Ummm, no. Retail therapy doesn't work.
Me: Oh but it truly does...
Him: I love you.
Me: I like you too.

Yeah, I'm a wench, it can't be helped. I was a homecoming queen in the 1980's named Heather (for real), so I'm used to things going my way. But apparently not this time. Oh well. At least I managed to obtain the above pictured Hazel Knits 'Sailor's Delight' sock yarn (my new fave) before finding out that 'retail therapy doesn't work'. Then again I am dealing with the person whose personal motto is "...any day that I'm not dragged into the street out of my bed and beat into a bloody pulp by the State is a good day."

This was supposed to be a triumphant 'I finished my Cobblestone, y'all!' post, but instead it's a 'how long is this freaking yoke going to take?' post. I'd show you the picture, but I am not sure that looking at an inchoate mess of Classic Elite Skye Tweed would really do much for you. Jared, I love you, but the whole purling thing is really not helping this knitter's blues.
Herringbone mittens in Cascade 220
Luckily I started a frothy, side-dish of a project that I am enjoying, mainly because I simply can't wait to get to the pompon and do the Kate Gilbert tutorial! Elliphantom's Herringbone Mittens are proving to be a real gas and a major stash buster.
Herringbone mittens in Cascade 220

I'm using some Cascade 220 that I have repurposed (remember the whole argyle socks in-the-round fiasco?). I know that the whole Chocqua thing is played out at this point, so I promise this is the last iteration of it you'll see chez A.D.D.

Ha-ha-ha! My sister was homecoming queen and I never let her live it down. Whenever she plays the diva, I just thow it in her face! ;)

I love Elli's Herringbone mittens. I must resist, I must resist. . .

Oh, why must you tempt me with new yarns, especially ones in colorways similar to the Woollmeise I can't seem to get my paws on?! Must.resist!

Love the chocqua mittens!

I'm about to start those mittens too! And dude, Chocqua will never, never lose it's place in my heart.

Retail therapy may not work for men (outside of Best Buy), but it absolutely works for women. I've done some preliminary research on this. Trust me.

Such pretty mittens!

Boys just don't understand. ;) I kind of wish I hadn't read the part about your cobblestone though... I'm already having nightmares about the yoke and I don't even have the first sleeve done yet! Great mitts. Love the color combo. :)

retail therapy totally works! But so does a half and hour of piece and quiet and knitting : )
Your mitts are going to be beautiful! Love the whole chocqua thing

Gosh that yarn is lovely. The mittens look great too - that pattern may lure me back to colourwork!

Oh but retail therapy so does work. And whatever the Queen wants, the Queen should get!!

Awesome mitts.

homecoming queen Heather in the 1980's... that made me laugh out loud. I almost got into a barfight once with some chick who thought "Heathers" was made in 1995. Clearly that was circa 1989. Moron.

Anyways! Loving the mittens... I'm on a cable kick at the moment but I think colorwork might be next...

I'mm having a crap case of the blahs myself - yarn won't even come in the mail - it must know:) But maybe a hand at some stranded work might help?:)

I am very lucky to have a husband who understands retail therapy. Of course we're always on the edge of being broke too.

Oh, the sock yarn is gorgeous... and tempting!!

Retail therapy does work! My iPhone and I agree! J/K My hubby is the one with the iPhone so he can't say anything when I get more yarn! Love the new chocque mitts!

Chocqua is so NOT played.

I think "Chocqua" is my new favorite word -- and it's certainly not played out in my book!

Retail therapy lasts one or two days for me, but the love for an iphone could last (up to) three years.

He's so wrong! I definitely think an iphone would help. Retail therapy usually only works on women though. Most men don't get it.

The mitten color combo is great. I've downloaded the pattern, but need to start searching in the stash for yarn.

Oh, I love the mittens - the pattern and the colors you chose are fab!

LOL at being a homecoming queen named Heather in the 80s - wow! I'm quite impressed.

And it can be bad to have a husband who understands retail therapy (too well)- no one to put on the brakes!

Say what? Retail therapy doesn't work? It totally works in my world. Of course, in my world I am also independently wealthy because the money grows on trees. Elli's mittens, oh how I love them...especially in your little Chocqua combo.

Chocqua is not played out. Please more chocqua! Yarn retail therapy does work! Wait until the 2nd generation Iphone is out and Xmas is coming too so maybe Santa will bring you one.

I'm on the chocolate and pastels kick too. I just love chocolate brown so much. *sigh* Maybe I just love chocolate so much. Thanks for the tips on the mittens - I've been looking for a cute pair. :)

Love the mittens almost as much as I love the term Chocqua.

Well, I think we all know that retail therapy does work. I love your herringbone mittens. That Cascade 220 is good stuff.

Hm. Shouldn't the theory that retail therapy doesn't work be *tested*?! It's the scientific way, after all.

(*Great* mittens, by the way. How could anyone ever get sick of chocqua?)

I love the brown and blue combination of those mitts. So pretty!

Retail therapy does too work.

I agree with Weezalana. By some strange twist of fate, retail therapy does not work on males. Poor guys :(

Sadly, it's true. Retail therapy does not work on me. I blame the y chromosome. I always feel sleazy after I buy something, even if I really want it or need it. Alas. I'm 'bout to start those mittens too, but yarn must be bought for them. Otherwise they'll end up a really gross brown/lime green combo. Ew. Choqua will never go out of style.

LOVE that yarn! Being a sailor, and all....
And I love those mittens. I queued them some time ago. Great use of the argyle sock yarn. Still haven't picked those up!

Retail therapy totally works! Well, until you get that credit card bill, it does. Glad you love the Sailor's Delight! Wendee's a doll. I still have to go and get my own one of these days. The mittens are dee-vine! Thanks for sharing the link. Now I want to make my own too :)

OMG. You were homecoming queen? Do you know how much I wished I was you in high school instead of Ugly Betty?

Does wanting to be a queen count? Cuz I sure wanted to be back in high school. Nowadays I am the queen, of my own little [home] domain, at least. Mary Englehart refrigerator magnet: "It's good to be queen."

Since I have only seen chocqua referenced 2 or 3 times, clearly it has a long run remaining. Great mitts!

Your transcribed conversation cracked me up. It was all too familiar, but I have to admit that I usually play your husband's role. (I'm breaking down and getting him an iPhone for Christmakah, though.)

Love those blue and brown mittens!

The mitts looks great - so have to try stranding. I could use your advice - definitely less buying more knitting needs to be done at this house:)
