Some are fond of flowers, there are those that love to adorn anything and everything with hearts, and others still find magic in Angels (not me, even writing that line gives me the creeps). Me? I am a major fan of the simple leaf motif as evidenced by the various leaf-inspired designs in our house:
Adding to my leaf collection is a finished pair of Embossed Leaves, a.k.a. The Most Magnificent Socks in the History of the World. Seriously--if you are in a sock lull, why not give these little darlings a whirl?
This pattern is a major winner and I am gaga over the Fleece Artist Merino sock yarn. The color way is ‘moss’, an apt and fitting name as the yarn has all the subtle change in hue and variation that makes real moss so textured and appealing. The pattern was so easy to memorize, was such a pleasure to knit, and the end result is a pair of socks that are comfy and comely--and feature my favorite possible motif ever!
The Specs:
Pattern: Embossed Leaves from Favorite Socks
Yarn: Fleece Artist Merino Sock yarn in Moss
Needles: size 2 Magic Loop
Notes: No modifications necessary, why would there be?
I know I hinted that I was on the verge of sock saturation, but I do believe I have a few pairs left in me. Next up: the RPM socks in Rhabarber Wollmeise. How can I resist the lure of rhubarb and its last gasp before the autumn leaves must turn?

Love love love them. Love the colour, the pattern. Beautiful.
Of course I love the colour!! The pattern is very pretty and who doesn't love Fleece Artist as well.
Oh why, oh why have I left a skein of Fleece Artist Moss lie in my stash for so long when it could be something so pretty?!
I've been eyeballing those falling leaves too! AND you knit them in my most coveted yarn. Baah! Would it be wrong for my dad to scan in the pattern for me so I can work on them before I get my grubby paws on my copy of Favorite Socks? I mean, I do own the book- I just don't possess it.
Oh question: Did you knit them toe up?
I love that tree branch lamp, btw.
Niiiiiice socks.
Angels? Shiver.
They look great!
I love the simple leaf motif too - I have several patterns like that in my house, and they always catch my eye when shopping. Lovely socks!!
They are lovely! I've knit three pairs of these myself, so I know how addictive the pattern is!
I couldn't agree with you more, that's one of the best sock patterns I've ever knit (which reminds me that I should post a picture of mine, since I knit them pre-blog), but yours look amazing in the mossy colour. And big-ups to Fleece Artist, being from my hood and all...
Bring on the rhubarby RPMs!
Such pretty things on your blog today! Love all the leaves, including the gorgeous socks. And the rhubarb yarn is pretty tasty too!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
They just gorgeous! I can't get over that pattern. I'm seeing it more and more and love it!!!
Can't wait for the Wollmeise to get started!!
Those are one of the prettiest pairs of Embossed Leaves. Gorgeous! The color is perfect. I ripped mine out because they were too big. I may need to try again.
Mmmmm, love that pattern too. Of course green, opps pardon, MOSS is the perfect color to do them in. I saw a sweater done in that pattern and it looked really awesome. Now if I could just remember which site out of 200 it was at.....
So pretty. Sigh. I wonder why I don't knit anymore...if I did, I would knit those.
Oh, love it! The color and the pattern go wonderfully together.
I love that pattern. It is on my to do someday when I get around to them list. That Wollmeise makes me want some rhubarb pie.
Oooh pretty! I just got the book favorite socks yesterday and these are at the top of my list!
Oh, they're *perfect*! Really, that yarn and pattern were MADE to go together -- just perfect. Can't wait to see the Wollmeise all knitted up!
Great, green, mossy, leafy socks. Not really a pattern I've considered but now I may get me some yummy green yarn and give 'em a go. I love my RPM socks. The pattern felt little fidgity unitl I memorized it but then I kicked into overdrive and my RPM's flew off the needles!
J'adore le couleur vert. Embossed Leaves pattern is lovely. And damn you for showing me that RPM pattern. I don't know why I feel the need to do everything that you do, but I do.
Great picture post! You are right about leaves :)
Gorgeous socks! Love all the leaf motifs too!
I absolutely LOVE the leaf motifs - I have a silk sweater from Ann Taylor with that pattern.
Lovely association - very well written.
Now I want to go around my house and see if I have a favorite motif! I definitely used to have a thing for stars, but I don't know if any remnants survive.
The socks are FRESH.
Your socks turned out absolutely beautiful .. especially in that yarn. That pattern is also a favorite of mine. I just love how the pattern melds into the toe .. brilliant!
You did make those for me, right? Gorgeous color, great pattern...they look at bit big for me, though.
I'm with you on the leaf motifs. I've got quite a collection going myself!
Those are simply superb embossed leaves! I love the color--I'm a big fan of green. Leaves, too (you should see my house).
Gorgeous socks!
You're totally making me excited for the coming of fall with all of your talk of leaves! And great socks... how have I never knit that pattern yet??? Can't wait to see that Wollmeise in action!
Perfect colorway for the pattern! I haven't used any Fleece Artist yet, but I will. Gorgeous yarn.
Great socks, and you picked the perfect yarn for it, I think.
They're beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
That is a wonderful sock pattern, isn't it! You did a great job, too! The moss colorway is just right for leaves.
Oooooooh! That is my favorite colorway. I love the soscks!!!
Oh I do love those socks.....
BEAUTIFUL!
Where have I been? I am so lovin that Wollmeise website! Fabulous!
I. MUST. GET. SOME.! Perfect for the RPM's!
I am so with you on the leaf thing. Even in my garden I focus on leaves in all of their magnificent colors and forms.
I've made 1.5 pairs of embossed leaves, and will certainly be making more. Yours are gorgeous. A perfect choice of yarn.
Love the Embossed Leaves pattern so much! I think if I ever feel brave enough to tackle them, I would do them in green as well.
