The above pictures mitten represents a minor misstep, half of a project that is so underwhelming it will neither be completed nor put on Ravelry. Sometimes you see someone else's project, realize you have the yarn for it, cast everything else aside and go for it. And the end result is not at all what you had hoped for. This is the EZ Mitered Mitten, a project that I am so theoretically down with, but rather than looking funky and free-wheeling, this garment looks like something that would have been found next to the preserved cadaver of a Viking in a peat bog. Not a look I am going for normally, although I do give major props to the Lindow Man whenever I can. Something about the shape is bugging the shit out of me. Sometimes the Noro is just too rustic looking, you know?
What better antidote could there be to this slight fiasco than a small knitted accessory in Malabrigo? Thanks Leslie for this pattern, it was just what I need to set things right again in my knitting world.

I rather like the Noro mitten, but what do I know? The Malabrigo Toasty mitts are much more appealing in their rusty goodness and the beautiful model showing them off.

I just giggle snorted coffee down my front. I was just watching a Discovery show on The Iceman yesterday, so the memory is fresh in my mind. I think he did have something like that on him...
okay, I'm lovin' the noro EZ mitt. But I totally get what you are saying about it now irritating you beyond belief - I've had the same reaction over various projects over the years. And I've been drawn to the mitered mitt forever - never done one - and as soon I saw the photo of yours I knew it was exactly how I wanted mine to look! The noro is great!! I'm telling you girl, you could raffle these off right here on the blog and get more than the cost of your noro back. I am sure of it. Now, off to do some toastys too.
I think the Noro mitten may be the dead Viking's cod-piece. Really, the mitten isn't all that bad. It only looks meh because of the fabulous throbbing-with-life Malabrigo mitt. Love it.
The Noro mitt isn't bad. Granted, it does sort of resemble Nordic armour in the nicest kind of way.
Your toasties are great though. So scrunchy and smooshable.

I like the look of the Noro mitten well enough, but I think all love would be lost once I touched it.
The Malabrigo, on the other hand, well, I think I'd just like to put on the mitts and use them to stroke my face and neck. Mmmmm.
Sorry your Noro mit was a no-go. I agree with the 'meh' ness of the whole thing - when I made this pattern, I decided to combine it with a grey wool. Both yarns on their own were OK, but together they worked out really well. The grey also helped calm down some of Noro's craziness.

I'm with the "What you talking about Willis?" side. That's a really lovely mitten. But then again, I've never met a "too rustic" ball of Noro. And I happen to think that bogs are beautiful too. So that may explain it.
Of course, the Malabrigo is pretty too.
Oh my, those mitts are pretty. You will be happy to hear that I finally cast on one of my skeins of Malabrigo and actually knit it!!!! Into a birthday cowl. Looks like I don't have quite enough left for the mitt pattern . . . although I could just make them a little smaller. :)

Omg - I'm glad someone else here saw "codpiece" in that Noro mitten! (Actually, I was thinking "Viking prophylactic," but "codpiece" is much more respectable.) It is a perfectly fine mitten, btw. Just..has a shape that makes you go, "Hmmm..." LOL!

I quite like the little noro mitten, and its totally ok that you don't.
I love the simplicity of those mitts! Fingerless mitts are the holiday gift this year, all my kids teachers are getting a pair. Ok, maybe not all of them!

Sorry about the Noro mitten :( I don't think it's all that bad though, really. But if something bugs you, no sense completing it! Glad you found a gorgeous alternative. Love those Toasty-s!

I'm with you on the rustic. Plus, I sometimes feel like I'm the only one, but I *really* hate the way Noro feels.
On the other hand, Malabrigo of any kind can do no wrong and is pretty much angelic. So nice choice for the rebound! I mean, as if you'd ever knit with anything else. ;-)
Both are nice but I seem to be drawn to the Toasties, too.

I kind of like that mitten. If I had a green leather jacket, I would look great with that mitten.
Those red ones are lovely, too, though. Looks like they would do well on a figure skater.

Pity about the Noro, this is a project I've admired from afar, but I've always wondered if the pointyness doesn't feel a bit odd to wear? Now the Malabrigo mitts---LOVE. Simple, soft, stunning!

Aww I like the mitered mittens too, but I must say I'm in LOVE with the Mal mitts! They're gorgeous! Malabrigo is the superhero of yarns I tell ya, it can always come to the rescue :)
Too bad toddlers don't cook. You could felt that nasty Noro and turn it into a really cool oven mitt!
