Snowbound!
Winter is coming people--I have just experienced it in Aspen and am so ready for it come to my home town. Things I love about Aspen: (visually) indulging in one's predilection for young, tan blonde dudes in wraparound sun glasses who use the word 'dude', seeing hippie chicks with whitegirl dreadlocks toting around their new age babies in one arm and juggling sticks in the other, witnessing the most phenomenal examples of plastic surgery this side of L.A., and of course, the incredible natural beauty that attracts all of the unusual residents that make Aspen the freak capital of the Rockies.
My work related trip afforded me the opportunity to knit like a mofo. Why? Because we were snowed in.
Dude.
I have made massive headway on the Cobblestone and hope to have that project in the can before not too long.
Yes, there was some serious fireplace knitting happening, and that was well, just really dreamy. But alas all good weekend wing dings must come to an end, right?
This afternoon I was lucky enough to come home to the first installment of the Woully Boully sock club:
This if Softie Sock Superwash Merino in Sea Grass and I love it. Jenny is not only an inspired writer, she also has an eye for color.
Dude. Scenery and knitting most glorious.
ReplyDeleteDude! I never thought I would wish for snow, but it was 75 here today. In the Northeast. In almost November. Al Gore would not like this one bit! I need to wear hats and scarves and mittens!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Dude.
That sounds absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteO.K. the snow globe shot is awesome.
ReplyDeleteDude. Seriously. I want snow now.
ReplyDeleteDude - I totally want to be there right now!
ReplyDeleteHeaven!! Love the sea grass sock yarn.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those pictures are almost enough to cool me off. What a contrast to our current dry winds and forest fires!
ReplyDeleteDUDE, Aspen looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh but snow comes and doesn't leave MN for five months. I'm appreciating global warming at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI shall gaze upon your Aspen pics longingly as I endure a week in the freakin' 90s.
ReplyDeleteThat snowed in pic looks like a postcard!
Oh, my! Your photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic weekend! Gorgeous scenery and knitting; what more could you want?!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some amazing images. :) What a fun work trip. And the wolly bully is just fantastic. I really wish I joined.
ReplyDeleteBeing snowed in is one of my all-time favourite things. Luckily, I live in a place where this kind of thing is not uncommon. I can't wait for snow!
ReplyDeleteYour photos of Aspen are just gorgeous. How convenient that you found a snowy shot that features wet cobblestones. And speaking of which, looks like you might beat me at finishing yours, though I'm not far behind...
The snow looks so pretty . . . and every prettier because it's far away from me!!! The yarn is gorgeous too - but I wish that was closer.
ReplyDeleteOoooo! Cozy fireplace knitting with snow falling outside - it doesn't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos - reminds me of my trip to COpper Mountain last year! (Although I think it may have a slightly lower freakshow quotient.)
ReplyDeleteOh wow that's gorgeous! I sooo love snow in mountain towns. Hopefully the mid-Atlantic will get some precip this year. I'm so ready for some snow days.
ReplyDeleteWow - those pictures totally make me want winter to come to Toronto!
ReplyDeleteSnowed in?! Oh, that sounds like a dream... It was almost 75F at Rhinebeck on sunday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. I am so ready to be snowed in and knitting like a mofo. Lurve that yarn.
ReplyDeleteThe fire place photos look fantastic. And the snow looks lovely. I miss snow. It is 75 right now in Maryland.
ReplyDeleteSo Pretty!! Sounds like a fantastic trip ('course I love being snowed in 'cause I love snow). Living so close to the Rockies, I kind of take the gorgeousness of them for granted but your pictures are really a nice reminder. I'm hoping the weather will be all snowy and gorgeous like that for my upcoming trip to Emerald Lake. Banff is a bit like Aspen but with more granaola and less plastic surgery!
ReplyDeleteSnow? What is this snow you speak of? It was so hot yesterday, chocolate melted in my car. What is that all about. Knitting in from of a fireplace because one is snowed in...hello, dream come true.
ReplyDeleteIncredible. We have crazy out of control forest fires and you're knitting by the fireplace. Enjoy it, Chica. And I want more deets on the Woully Boully Sock Club, please!
ReplyDeleteI felt almost ready to vomit with jealousy at that picture of you knitting at the fireplace. You lucky, lucky bugger. Aspen sounds like a fascinating place to visit, you describe it exactly as I imagine it.
ReplyDeleteoh i love those photos!!
ReplyDeleteand the fireplace knitting looks SO delicious!
glad you had a fabulous trip!
How beautiful! I'd love to be snowbound right about now. Of course, I'm hiding from massive wildfires raging through San Diego, so almost anything would be better. I'm still knitting, though!
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwww, man...that snow looks so good I could catch a flake on my tongue. I'm starting to think we'll never even get fall here. HMMPH.
ReplyDeleteI'm also jealous to think that someone, somewhere is making progress on Cobblestone. I suspect that one's gonna be my albatross for a long while to come.
Wow, what a great way to get snowed in on a business trip! Knitting, autumn snow, fireplaces, and gorgeous scenery, oh my! I'd say you're a lucky gal.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first opened your post, I thought, "Huh, is it really snowing in central PA?" Then I wisely kept reading. Not much can make me wish for snow and cold weather, but I wouldn't mind being snowed in, knitting by the fireplace. Unfortunately, even with two feet of snow on the ground, it's impossible to be snowed in in NYC. You still have to go to work.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am certianly glad I found this blog. I clicked on it through Ravelry becaue "I liked your face." How do like that? :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a more perfect work getaway - lots of knitting - yay! Almost makes work well, worth it!
ReplyDeleteSoooooo jealous of you! I love your Aspen photos and I'm glad you got to "knit like a mofo" :) The new yarn's yummylicious too!
ReplyDeleteYour description of Aspen cracks me up, which is good because those photos of snow make me cry. I don't care if it's supposed to be in the 50s here and it's in the 70s, I shall take it as long as I can. At least you were able to stay in and enjoy all that knitting!
ReplyDeleteWow! So jealous! I never asked what you did for a living, but if it takes you there! Sign me up!
ReplyDeleteDude! Totaly great! the photos make me want it to snow and I don't like the snow!
ReplyDeleteAhh, yummy sock yarn! Great pics of Aspen. I'm looking forward to witer but I don't think summer is ever going to end here in Maryland.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I left the house at 10 to 7 in a cotton short-sleeved shirt and it was still dark. It really jangles the senses when it's 68 degrees at 6:50am on Oct. 24 in western Maryland. This is not normal.
Love the snow pictures! How wonderful to get to knit by a fireplace in Aspen : )
ReplyDeleteAlso, great yarn!
The whole *thing* looks dreamy! You're making me wish for those big white flakes and some hot cocoa, totally.
ReplyDeleteLooking at that snow makes me think of the nice, cold weather we'll be having soon. At this time of year I look forward to it. When it gets here, maybe not so much. I love your Clapotis, by the way.
ReplyDeleteHey! Last year I got not only snowed in, but avalanched in(No, avalanche didn't hit us, but they were coming down those mountains so no one was allowed out of the hotel. Not even to step out into the parking lot!) in the mountains around Salt Lake City! I got alot of knitting done then, too.
ReplyDeleteAspen looks really pretty! And how cozy, knitting by the fire. I bet you were wishing for my gay pride blanket to snuggle in ;) (it'll be a looong time before I let myself live that one down).
DuDe! My Gorilla Boy was talking to me about how he couldn't wait to snowboard this winter (probably January at the ear;liest)as I clicked open your blog. Bam. I had to show your pictures. He was instantly bummed that he lives in Michigan and not the Rockies. Dude. That was mean.
ReplyDeleteSimply Breathtaking -- both Aspen and the sock yarn...
ReplyDeleteSo. Jealous. Beautiful pics. That must have been like something out of a dream!
ReplyDeleteNice yarn too! :)
Jessica
Those are some great photos! You almost have me wanting snow here (but not quite yet!) If only all of winter was so beautiful... I'm sure the fireplace and knitting helped keep you warm, too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an amazing trip. Too bad you didn't get any pics of the young tan blond guys! The ones you took are really pretty, though. Winter wonderland... I love being snowed in and knitting!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh my goodnes, Thankyou for taking me away even if it's for a moment in these photos! These are probably the best Winter photos I have EVER seen!! Good for you taking such a great trip!!
ReplyDeleteyeah, that blizzard looks hefty alright. Anything to stay in and knit! That fireplace rocks!
ReplyDeletebrr! Looking at your lovely pictures makes me want to go grab a sweater! btw Dude, that's some nice looking yarn. ; )
ReplyDeleteoooh, those snow shots are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, those shots are so gorgeous! :sigh: I could just live in them. :)
ReplyDeleteyou're sooo lucky!!!
ReplyDeletelast year, we had two dustings in nc. dustings !
i am not a skier (sp?) ... i would do a twilight run on the bunny slope, as long as it did not interfere with my fireside knittin' and drinkin'.
ps. stuart and his new babe, mabel, send their sweet hello's .
