Finally!

The Green Gable, she is done. This pattern was an absolute gas for the first 1/3 of it. The neck was quite enthralling and quickly followed by the 'putting the sleeves on waste yarn' excitement. But after that it was a slow descent into stockinette hell that seemed to last an eternity. It's a discouraging feeling to spend 8 hours of solid knitting (I was a judge for a student film contest and sat through an 8 hour screening) and only emerge with less than 3 inches. Maybe my goals are unrealistic, but still! I am nonetheless happy with the finished product but won't be casting on for another one anytime time soon.

The Specs:

Pattern: The Green Gable, Zephyr knits (but you knew that)

Yarn: Valley Yarns Longmeadow in Lettuce. Love this yarn, it's shimmery and has the perfect cotton/micro blend, not to mention the nice price of $3.49/ball.

Needles: Size 6 addi turbos, natch!

Modifications: The only modification was that I cast on three extra stitches at the underarms as I was afraid of it being tight in that area (given my well endowed-ness;). I didn't want to look like a hunched up uncle Fester after all. I am glad I did this as it is not tight at all.

Finishing the Green Gable represents a triumph of sorts. It was the only large project (not counting a cardigan that I'm frogging very soon) in my basket o' wips, which means that I temporarily had the psychic space to contemplate another larger project. Since Nature hates a void, I quickly remedied this by casting on some Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool for the Audrey
tank from 'Sophisticated Lady--Book 4'. My love of Scandinavian everything is well documented on this blog, so it should not be a surprise that I am turning to this pattern, even though the title 'sophisticated lady' makes me want to gag. So far I am loving the hand of this yarn and recommend it to all...

My wish for all of you is that find a project, large or small, to occupy your free time during these gorgeous spring days!

Congrats on finishing your GG! It's a lovely color. So is the color for your newest project, isn't Silky Wool just wonderful to work with?

I think your's is the first Green Gable that I've seen that's actually green. I was totally in the mood for acres of stockinette when I did mine or it would still be languishing in the WIP black hole. Your Audrey is a lovely color.

Oh la la! You must post an on-person pic! Did you have rolling problems on the neckline? It seems like a lot of people did, but I would love to try it myself.

Congratulations! I'm sorry the stockinette was so disheartening, but it was worth it in the end. The Audrey is a gorgeous colour, and I think that you've sold me on the yarn, sounds delish.

Great work!

Also, good to have 8 hours for knitting, Those films must have been riveting ;–)

It is a very fresh green. I will have to try it. And I really like the start of your "Sophisticated Lady".

Like everyone else, I love that green! And what's not to love about silky wool? It'll make a great tank.

I am always happy to help other people along with their addictions...

Lookin' good!

All that stockinette stitching is a chore though...a bit like the ribbing on Orangina...which I think might get languished to my WIP pile soon, as I'm buying yarn for Rusted Root on Saturday!

Oh wow that Green Gable is really cute! Congrats on slogging through it! You know that I'm in stocking knit hell, I feel the pain.

That's the first time I've been over to Zephyr - I may need to get me some of those patterns. How cute is the Wicked?? And nice choice on the Audrey. I think I may just start working on all your projects. ;)

Hurray for finishing Green Gables. Hurray for making it through the Knitting Black Hole (where you knit and knit and the project doesn't grow)!!

Aw, man! Such a tease you are! I want more pics of the FO! From the tiny glimpse of it that you DID give us, it's super cute! :)

I'm so dense that I thought the Green Gable was the Green Cable(d) baby sweater. Then I was all like, "how on earth is she going to model a baby sweater???" Then, I was thinking how much I really liked those plaid shortalls when I was three, but they don't fit me anymore... then, I put down the crack pipe. I'm so happy it's Friday. Where's my cocktail?

Wow! I love the Green Gable! It's beautiful and looks great! Congratulations! That tank will look great too! About the being bored when knitting endless stockinette, I totally agree. That's why I don't knit many sweaters.

love the color green you picked out for your green gable! Glad to hear that it fits well : )

Awww - the color shade you've been using for your Green Gable is sooo gorgeous! I'm dying to see more of it, all of it - please, do post a couple of modelled pics, won't you?

A hearty congrats on the major project completion!
I know what you mean about nature hating a void- nature must love me, I've got so many projects, large and small, on the needles that I shall never have a void... he, he, he...
Great snapshots of your work.

NICE! I still have this pattern in my "to knit" pile. Love the green. SO, how does it feel completing major projects?
Love the start of your new project as well.

Remember to check the errata for the Silky Wool tank! (I think I said that, but I'm obsessing about whether I did for sure, so now I can stop. I know it has a mistake near the top somewhere.) It looks beautiful so far!

Love the color of your GG. (I happen to be wearing mine today for the first time since last fall!) I'm contemplating another but need to think about mods--maybe 3/4 sleeves next go-round.
