Summer of Socks: le bilan
After seeing Ms. Flint's utterly adorable EZ Baby Sweater in the ever so luscious Dream in Color 'Cool Fire', I was motivated to get my remnants of that very yarn and color way out and have another go-round with it. This yarn has million dollar yardage. After a pair of adult and baby socks, I still have enough left over to make a pair for my daughter. Hot damn! I completed the High Energy baby socks yesterday. If you are a sucka for a picot edge like me, I say give this pattern a whirl.
The Specs
Pattern: High Energy Baby Socks
Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy in 'Cool Fire'
Needles: size 2
From top, left to right: Embossed Leaves in Fleece Artist 'Moss', Jaywalkers in Opal Handpainted, and Monkeys in Brooklyn Handspun 'Jungle Canopy, High Energy Baby Socks in Dream in Color 'Cool Fire', Thujas in Artyarns Supermerino, and Chevron socks in 'Cool Fire, Thujas in Artyarns Supermerino, Conwy in Colinette Jitterbug, and Toe-Up Socks in Sundara 'Cherry Blossom'
The Summer of Socks escapade is drawing to a close, so I thought it would be useful to faire le bilan or do a final tally of where we're at with the whole sock thing. One of the unexpected outcomes is that I am massively over socks at the moment. But I loved doing all of these beauties this summer and recommend joining something like this to everyone. I just need a break from the whole sock drill, but when I get my enthusiasm back I'll cast on for the Firestarters. Hecky, I joined the kal so that means I have to, right?

9 pairs?! Wow. I'm impressed!
That is a ton of socks! The top right sock is Cherry Tree Hill, Life's A Beach colorway, right? I love that colorway! Love them all, especially the top middle sock. What yarn & color is that?
Those little socks are so precious. Once I find out the gender of my sister's baby, I'll be knitting up a bunch of those! I also got the firestarter pattern, but I have other projects I must finish first...
Very nice collection of socks. A summer well spent for sure.
Wow, you really knocked out the socks!! Good for you!
For some reason, I can not see the pictures on your post today! I will have to come back later to check it out, I am a huge fan of Dream in Color yarn, so gorgeous, and so much of it for the price. Love.
That's alot of very pretty sock!
What a gorgeous collection of socks - that baby sock is darling - and I am a sucker for the picot...
I really can't believe you knitted all of those socks this summer. You're like one of those sock knitting 4 year olds in the alps (back before child labor was frowned upon). At least you and a million other people will have warm feet for the winter months. That definitely deserves ein stück der lakritze or whatever they used to coerce those children into sock knitting slavery.
Good heavens that's a lot of socks! And am I crazy or did you change the color of the background dots on your template? I am suddenly digging the citrus-ness of it. (Hopefully I've not just gone bonkers...?)
Lovely! If your sock mojo returns, you should join the Southern Hemisphere Summer of Socks - because we were feeling a bit left out! :)
Very impressive collection. I feel like such a knitting slacker!
Lovely sock collection! It reminds me that I want to knit a pair of Thujas because my eyes went right to both pairs. Your feet will be warm and toasty this winter.
wow! you are a sock making machine!!! I really love them all......
love the phrase "million dollar yardage" :)
cute, cute baby socks!
Hmmm, it even appears that most of those have mates, you get the gold star today!!!Firestarters, thats a Steven King book, maybe you could have a book club read along while knitting.....just a thought.
It'll be sad to say goodbye to your summer 'o' socks! But I'm excited to see what you do next. :)
Oh, and I hadn't seen the Firestarters -- neat heel details!
I love all of your sock pictures! You've completed so many! The fig and plum cake in the prev post looks delicious, too.
I have to cast a vote for the Blue Thuja's dead center. Wait! You didn't call for a vote did you?
A very productive summer.
Boy that's a lot of socks(I couldn't even manage to finish one sweater for the entire summer)I love them all though!
I've been a sock craze all summer; right now the Vintage sock book is keeping me occupied. The cake looks delicious.
Those baby booties are so cute!!!! WOW! Socks galore!! I'm still working on the 2nd sock of my 1st pair! *laugh* and due to the holidays being around the corner... ummm... well it hasn't been touch in weeks!
You are the bomb, the sock bomb that is!
i know that everyone has their thing, but i think i may be the only knitter on the planet who doesn't dig knitting socks. perhaps i should give it another try...
Me and socks are blah right now too but I will be ready for them firestarters for Socktoberfest! Great sock roundup!
I'd say you're pretty set for winter.
By the way, think you're in enough KALs now? ;)
That's a lotta socks! :)
You really did great with all your beautiful socks this summer. You have quite a nice new sock stash for the cold winter months ahead.
Burn out on socks eh? So you're not going to participate in Soctoberfest? Come on .. you know you can't resist!
